The doll quilt is finished….so you know what that means…!!! A celebration!

*The giveaway is now closed*

Woohoo! The quilt is officially complete, label and all (which is pretty darn cute if you ask me!)

Notice the little reference to Dorothy? I thought I was a genius when I came up that idea! LOL. Sometimes it’s the littlest things that make me happy. 🙂

But….that quilt is complete and it’s time celebrate Angela style! So that means a giveaway! And not just any giveaway. Why it’s the giveaway of another mini quilt. If you’ve been following along, then you know what is coming. Otherwise, catch up. 😉

We all know that there was no way that I was going to create a twin to the doll quilt, but I did promise that I would continue to give away mini quilts after the girl on a swing became so coveted. So here is the next addition to my attempts at mini quilts. I blogged about it a few days earlier, so you can go back and read more about it…but this is it:

As yet unnamed quilt…maybe I’ll let the winner decide! But this pretty peacock could soon be yours. And what do you need to do to get some entries? Well there’s a few ways.

I’m very intrigued by everyone’s reaction to my doll quilt “Where Bluebirds Fly”.

I did not set out to create something that got a lot of attention. But the reality is that it did. And I’m interested in why. I would love to hear what it is about the quilt that drew you to it especially. No “it’s just pretty” answers please. This is an honest attempt to understand what people are liking in the quilting world. This is not a beg for a compliments, but rather a request for solid information. (I don’t turn down compliments though 😉 ) You can say as much as you like, but only one entry per comment on the quilt.

If you’ve done that and you still would like to have some more entries, then we’re going for some standards here.

You can blog about the giveaway on your blog and link back here.

You can add me as a link in your side bar on your blog.

You can become a follower or tell me that you are already one.

And hey, since it’s my blog and my giveaway, you can get another entry by leaving a comment telling me how cute my Caitlyn is…because I don’t ever get tired of hearing it. LOL.

So that’s it…can’t wait to hear what you all have to say and good luck to everyone. This is a random drawing so it doesn’t matter how deep your affection is for either quilt…it’s all up to the random generator!

Good luck! The giveaway is open until the end of September 6th (central time?) because that is when all the doll quilts need to be mailed out and when my other mini quilt needs to be mailed out. It’s just a good deadline for me! LOL.

  1. Your bluebirds fly quilt caught me from your first peeks. I truly admire the time, thought, effort, and creativity that went into it. Everything down to the binding was done with mindfulness. Not to mention the whimsical elements, which always draw my eye!

  2. As someone who doesn't have a lot of time to devote to quilty activities, I think I'm just amazed by the amount of time & the attention to detail you've put into the quilt. Obviously, there was a lot of back story influencing you, but I don't think I'm creative enough to translate life onto fabric like that. I most especially appreciate the effort!

  3. Your Caitlyn looks very happy in the water, and yes she is VERY cute.
My kids look happy like that lateley, but they are playing in the mud ATM as we are getting lots of late winter rain.

  4. I love the attention to detail as well as the contrast between the sides. It's a wonderful reminder that perspective renders scenes of life in many different ways and sometimes a shift in stance can do a lot.

  5. My feelings are visceral when I view "When bluebirds fly". The feelings are intense> That is why I like the quilt. Traditional quilts are often remakes in different colors but this is your take on the story and yet for the rest of us it feels like our take too! You have let all of us feel the turmoil and juxtaposition that was faced in Wizard of Oz. To get an inanimate object to make a feel is incredible. Thanks.crangellaw@yahoo.com

  6. Love this doll quilt.

What always drew me back to your quilt was the story it told. I loved each and every detail of the story. Each item added was placed there for a reason and they all work together so harmoniously. Love it!

I was not a follower, but I am now. 🙂 (woot! 2 entries for me!)

  7. Oh oh oh!! I love that peacock! I'm designing a pattern study of peacocks and this little beauty caught my eye. Your Oz quilt is something else. As far as I'm concerned it's a work of art. The use of the fabric elements, how they're placed together, the brilliant way the pieced rainbow arches into Kansas. I tornado and the witches!! I love everything about it!

  8. Your Bluebird quilt is wonderfully made. I really like that it tells a tale of two worlds. Like real life in depicts the conflict that we face daily. Then at the end of the day……we live in the technicolor world where anything is possible. Your quilt may be small but it has the impact of an M80!

I collect all things peacock and your quilt is so lovely.

  9. Your quilt is fabulous first of all because the construction of it looks amazing. You did an excellent job. I had to learn more about it when I saw it on Freckled Whimsy. I love how unique it is and the meaning behind it. My babies came the hard way too, and I was touched by your story. That emotional connection made me love your quilt even more. If I had made it I'm not sure I could have parted with it. It inspires me to put more meaning into my quilting though. It's not just about a pretty quilt.

  10. Where Bluebirds Fly is a piece of art! I think I am drawn to the light-dark contrast – good-evil – happy-sad … I love the level of detail, and the fussy cut bits of some of my favourite fabric lines. It all comes together so beautifully!

  11. Beyond being fantastic to look at, the quilt really tells a story. There is so much detail put into it. I'd imagine that you could literally use it to tell a story (or several ones). I love the opposing sides, the bright & colourful vs. the dark & monotone, & I really love your clever use of fabric & how you used the mermaids, unicorn, castles, etc. to play off each other.
    AND it's pretty!! ;D
