Hey all,
You know that I’ve been interested more and more in embroidery right? Well, I’ve been making a little progress. I’ve tried to take some of your advice and then plow ahead. I found a set of quirky but hopefully not too cutesy reindeer for some kind of Christmas something and I’m working my way along…I’m on my third reindeer. I’ll admit that I’m pretty much only using a backstitch at this point because that’s all I’ve figured out. (I haven’t looked at the online tutorials yet). But I do think I pulled off a couple of french knots, and really, no one is here to tell me differently. 😉 My filling stitches need definite work, but they’re okay…until I look at a “real” embroiderer’s work. lol
ETA: A number of you seem interested in where I got the patterns. I bought this set at my local Joann’s but I don’t see it on their site. This is the package and I noticed that an Etsy shop is selling one…although I’m sure you can find them in all kinds of places. 😉 oh and I’m using a dmc perle cotton size 8 in three colors.
Check it out!
Oh, look, number 1! I'm a follower!
I'm a follower and I'm liking the new look!
A tree skirt featuring the reindeers would be so cute!!
i am a follower!
Hmmm, reindeer. I'm not sure how this would work but I was thinking it would be cute to make a Santa bag with reverse applique circles where the reindeer are showing through each circle. Sort of like Santa taking his reindeer pals with him while he's delivering toys in the house!
I'm a follower! 🙂
I'd make a pillow. Haha, but I'm really into pillows these days!
i think a wall hanging with some holiday fabric would be cute. I also like little bluebell's idea of a tree skirt.
I'm a follower!
Love the reindeer, I think a wall hanging for the season would be awesome!
Table runner!!!!
Oh yeah, I follow you too! 🙂
i am a follower!
i think the reindeer would be great as a wall hanging! perhaps if you embroider more, then they could each have their own little panel!
new update didn't manage to shake me off…still followin'
Your backstitch is looking mighty fine Angela. I might make a 4-paned Christmas pillow with those adorable reindeer, or a long narrow wall-hanging for a door? And I had a look at a real live copy of the Modern Blocks book last night at my VMQG meeting and all of your blocks are so faboo!!!!
I say "Hoop it up!" …a cluster of fun reindeer hoops grazing on the wall sounds fun!
This may surprise you, but I am a follower of your blog. You could make a reindeer block and place it strategically somewhere.
There. I've shot my creativity wad right there. Embroidery floss might help. 😉
I am a follower, you work is beautiful.
I'm a follower.
I think you should do some type of wall hanging…maybe with embriodery hoops and ribbon bows?
I think a Christmas quilt would be cute, especially if you're going to make all the reindeer! Also, your fill stitches look good, what kind of thread/number of strands are you using? I find that using a Perle cotton or an extra strand of thread gives a nice look to the fillers.
I follow your blog in google reader account. I think you should frame you reindeer, then they will stay clean and pretty.
And I'm a follower too…I think I was supposed to list that first… 🙂
I am a follower…still here!
Napkins would be very cute, or placemats for the holiday table. Something different.. and fun!
I am a follower and a wallhanging would show off those deer nicely.
Thanks for the chance to win!
Very nice embroidery! I love Prancer. How about stockings for a family that has 8 children!? 🙂
I follow you with Google Reader, I hope that counts. I do so love embroidery! but I think I've told you that before!
I am follower 🙂
LOvely embroidery – I've been wanting to do something similar and use them as part of a stocking for my little ones. 🙂
I stalk you!
I follow in google reader and I still see you! I think they'd be cute in something for your kitchen.
I would make them into trivets for all the holiday meals! You always need so many for all the dishes!
What about a tree skirt? Or kind of an advent calendar? I really do like Donner's swanky attire!
I am a follower.
I would make a Christmas wall hanging. Thanks for the giveaway.
I am a follower!
I love those reindeer!! They are so cute!
Prob won't work for you if you want them all together (depends how big they are I guess!) but I've recently been thinking about making a hot water bottle cover for a friend… one side xmas themed and one side not 🙂
I am a follower! It is great! Thanks so much!
I'm a follower.
I suggest either Christmas stockings or a Christmas bunting. 🙂
Love those reindeers. Perhaps a tablerunner or giftbags would be an idea I could think of.
im following.
those reindeers sure would be cute on a pillowcase!
I'm a follower!
How about a table runner?
I am still following…didn't get lost at all. I think your reindeer would make a sweet pillow. I would say placemats too but they are likely to get ruined that way.
I'm a follower.
Oh yes, still here stalking… errr.. a… following!
Tree skirt. Follower.
I'm thinking they'd but cute on throw pillows…or add some cutesy charm to placemats.
Those little deer are so darling. How about a tree skirt or stalkings? Dare I suggest reindeer curtains (ha!)
Well there's def too much work on them to use them on something that would get too dirty! How about a couple of skinny wall hangings with a big santa and sleigh in the middle?? If you did three separate ones and hung them side by side it would be freaking adorable. Or make another long skinny, horizontal one of Santa in his sleigh and hand they around and over a door frame! So maybe as you leave your front door or some other prominant place.
Long time follower!!
I am a follower, the blog looks great!
I think those reindeer are darling. Maybe we could frame each one in brightly painted frames and put them on a mantle or shelf. I think that would be super cute.
i follow you in google reader.
knottygnome@gmail.com
i would collect the embroidery pieces and make a holiday quilt.
knottygnome@gmail.com
I am still a follower and I love it! I would think about incorporating them into a tree skirt..
I just LOVE Dancer! 🙂 If I were doing those, I'd find a way to hang them somewhere they were really noticeable and maybe line them up with a big sleigh.
I've been following you in my Google Reader, but now I'm in here too.
Thx for much for this great giveaway. I use Cosmo all the time for my stitching.
I'm a follower of your blog!
It looks like we're supposed to do this separate, so I'm a follower.
Would it be too ambitious to turn them into an advent calendar type thing? Too many reindeer, you say? Then, I'd throw them together with some scrappy Christmas fabric and turn it into a wall hanging or something! They are too cute to hide.
And, I think table runner, maybe? P.S. I NEED that AMH fabric. Desperately.
Thanks for the giveaway — I am a follower and I'd love to win!
I think you should make a pillow because they are so darn useful and you can always make space for the seasonally. Easy! And, you could always hang your empty pillow on the wall, but you probably can't stuff your wall hanging and put it on the couch!
I'm a follower. They'd be seriously cute as pillows but I could also see them as wall decorations, maybe framed in different photo frames? 🙂
The reindeer are too cute. I would make a little wall hanging for the holidays. I am a follower 🙂
I am a follower!
You could make a wall hanging with all those adorable embroidery pieces!
Mmm, maybe a garland type of thing? That would be super cute to hang in front of a mantle.
I'm a follower!
Those reindeers rock and they need to be rocking around the Christmas table as a table runner only don't let anyone spill anything on them 🙂
I'm drooling over this giveaway because everyone says to try Cosmos thread and AMH fabric to stitch on? It doesn't get much better.
I would make a string of banners for your fireplace or elsewhere in the house. It would be adorable. Your stitches look great.
I'm a follower!
I am a follower!
I am a follower!
I might incorporate your embroidery into some easy blocks and make a throw-size quilt. They look good!
I think that they would make adorable tea towels, you know the kind NO ONE are allowed to use ….but I do spend most of my time in the kitchen when I am not sewing so that is where I would see them most. They are great1
Long time follower in Reader, but also added your follow button!
Would be so cute in a runner or what about stockings.
Follower – didn't lose me!
I'd make a tree skirt out of those reindeer.
What a fun giveaway, and I love your deer. I think I'd make pillows with those cuties, or possibly use them as a center piece for a table runner. I'm a long time follower.
I am definitely into pillows right now so that's my vote! (& I'm a follower!)
I follow your blog. Like the idea of a wall hanging for the holidays too. The reindeer you've completed are very pretty and have a fun vibe. Thanks for the giveaway. I also like Pink Castle Fabrics on FB.
I'm a follower!
I just started embroidery and I'm loving it! I think you should make a tree skirt or a couple large stockings. A bigger stocking means more stocking stuffers!
I am a follower! I think they'd look cute as a banner/bunting, that way you can move it around every year 🙂
Where did you get the reindeer pattern? I would love to embroider those.
With all my extra time.
Now that I have also taken up knitting.
I follow
And I vote for napkins – those embroideries really remind me of the Pottery Barn reindeer dishes they have out seasonally.
I'm a follower 🙂
I'm a follower.
I think they would look great as pillows, stockings or a tree skirt would be nice too.
You can send the reindeers to me! or make a wall quilt.
I think they would be really cute as door handle pillows. I've got some that are stitched on one side and velvety material on the back with ribbon for a handle. I guess they'd be considered ornaments. They'll be sweet regardless of what you choose to do!
I'm a follower!
I'm a follower! 🙂
You could use each one in a patchwork stocking or make them into a bunting of some kind…those seem particularly popular right now. Whatever you do it'll be darling with all those fun guys! 🙂
I'm a follower!
I've been wanting to do a little more embroidery lately, too. I just found Wild Olive http://wildolive.blogspot.com/ Soooo many cute little patterns, and she has a series of embroidery basics posts, too. 🙂
I think your reindeer would be perfect for some stockings or place mats!!
I'm still following.
A wall hanging. They are too cute and need to be somewhere that one can look at them all the time.
A wallhanging or table runner or a xmas bag.
I`m a follower.
I am a follower and I think a Christmas quilt is in order. Thanks for the chance!
I follow you…thanks for sharing your beautiful work!
I'm a follower.
i'm a follower! maybe a christmas quilt with the reindeer? i'm doing some embroidery now that i'm going to put in a christmas quilt for my son. thanks for the giveaway!
The reindeer would look cute in a band edging a bed pillowcase or sham.
I love your reindeer! I especially think your fill stitches work on the scarves because they give them a knitted look. I would make them into a wall hanging and would love to know where you found the pattern.
After thinking a bit about it, I can also see them as a banner with a funky Santa leading the way.
I follow you via Google Reader, such a handy tool. I think a tree skirt would be pefect. Thanks for the giveaway. Kathie L in Allentown
HAPPILY FOLLOWING YOU!
BLESSINGS TO ALL!
HELLO!

THEN BIND AS ONE.YOU'LL DO SOMETHING CUTE,I KNOW!
HAPPY STITCHING ALL!
I've been following awhile.
I think they would be cool put into a runner for the end of your bed during the holiday season.
Oooh I love your reindeer, very cute! They would look fantastic around a tree skirt!
I did my comments backwards (was too excited by the reindeer and had to comment on them first!) but I am a follower also 🙂
I follow 🙂
It would be really cute if you made a bunting of all the reindeer, one on each triangle!
I'm a follower
I really like the idea of framing them separately to hang in various places, or even as a group of 3
I too follow your blog…it looks terrific by the way. The reindeer are really stepping out in high fashion…why not fill their egos and make a cute wall hanging out of them! After all, they need to be seen.
Hi there! I am a follower of ya!
I have seriously been bitten by the embroidery bug too. Those reindeer are super cute. I would make them into a mini quilt/wall hanging. So cute to display during the holiday season. I'm going to have to go back up and see if you referenced where you got the patterns!
I follow your blog. Your reindeer are so cute. And your stitches are so even – way to go girl. I am a born again embroiderer for about a year now & mine don't look that good. Those reindeer would look awesome gussied up with some borders & hanging as a banner on a mantle or across a doorway. Great giveaway – thanks for the chance to win it & thanks to Pink Castle Fabrics too.
I'm a follower 😀
AND… for the reindeer, I think they would be really cute for a table runner
Don't enter me, but, I just had to let you know that your reindeer are sew cute!
I'm a follower. I think your reindeer look great! I think they'd be cute made into a wall hanging with Santa in the middle.
I follow 😀
Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
I'm a follower (and think the blog looks great!)
Love your embroidery!
I think it they would make a nice table runner 😀
These reindeer are so cute – I love Donner! I think piecing them altogether would make a cute throw quilt – you could use a flannel back to make it nice and cozy and Christmas-y.
I follow.
I love them. Maybe a pillow.
I love following your blog.
I'd put them in picture frames to hang on wall then they'll never get dirty or dirty hands on them and will keep for years.
I'm a follower!
I think guest towels would be cute, these are adorable!
Hi Angela! Yes I'm still here and following. 🙂
I think a wallhanging would sure be the way to go. They are so cute. 🙂
It sounds so close when you put it in days! I think some simple frames from ikea wrapped in Christmas wraping paper would be cute. Pop these in and bada bing bada boom! There's a tutorial flowing around pinterest with a map being used instead of paper.
Oh and I follow too.
What cute reindeer! I think they'd make a great bunting, or maybe a tree skirt (if you put up a Christmas tree).
Yes, I'm a follower, too. 🙂
I'm a follower – la.di.da!
What about a Reindeer pennant banner thingie? You know, each one hanging along a strip. You could put in on the mantel (that looks wrong, but I looked it up!) or on the wall, the fridge….
I've been a subscriber to your blog for a while and just revealed myself as a follower too. I'd make a vertical wall hanging. One that would fit nicely beside the front door. Thanks for the chance to win. I became a Cosmo fan about a year ago and now use DMC only when I don't have the right Cosmo color.
I am a follower!
I think a patchwork tree skirt would be so cute!

I would sew them together and display on a dessert buffet for christmas. Cover with a clear tablecloth first!
I am a big fan of having christmas quilts on the walls of my house and adding to that collection every year. If I were you, I would make a wall hanging.
Enjoy your lovely blocks.

I just found your blog and have been following it for a couple of weeks. I love it…glitches and all. I would probably make some sort of Christmas table topper or runner. Thank you for the giveaway!
I love your Christmas stitcheries!
Ideas for what to make with them-
wallhanging, table mats, Santa sack, gift bags or table runner

These reindeers would make a great table runner. Or you could make them into ornaments.
I also follow you!
Oh a wall hanging not a scrubbie…it would mess them up they are so sweet!!
I offically follow you now 😉
following!!
I had two ideas- if you have a young'un around, a small book with these as the pages would be great to have to bring out every year with the tree, and speaking of the tree, these would make a cute tree scarf or a table runner for the hallway and put the christmas cards there. Also a wallhanging with some nice holly fabric for sashing and fussycut a few to sew overlapping into the deer squares – or candy cane fabric.
A table runner would be nice or a bunting to hang for the holidays! thanks!
i follow with google reader. thanks again!
I'm a follower!
I think a table runner would be super cute with the reindeer!
I'm not sure if we should leave one comment or two, but others have gone with two, so I will too! I'm a follower
I think a table runner would be perfect as it'd be long enough to have all 7 in a row.
I'm a follower!
I think a wallhanging would be really cute. P.S. I really love the new blog design, especially the header. It's super cute!
Hi Angela, I have these same reindeer but have not started them yet….I found mine at Hobby Lobby about a year ago…I think they would be great in a wall hanging…..
I have been a follower of your blog for a long time now….I so enjoy coming here and being inspired…..this is a great giveaway and one I would love to win!
A table runner would be nice! I am still your follower, thankfully I wasn't lost!!
I am a follower and those reindeer are so cute.
The first thing I thought of was to sew them on tea towels framing them with rick rack. Then find a way to display them in your kitchen. So cute.
I have been a follower of your blog for some time now (I read it through Windows Live Mail feeder). I too, have just become a lover of embroidery! It's fun and relaxing, isn't it? :0)
What to do with those reindeer…. hmm… what about a table runner or place mats? Or a runner to go on your hutch, piano, or other table? A wall hanging or door hanging would be nice too.
Um, yes, I am definitely a follower :)!! Love you!
I would definitely go for a long rectangular pillow for a couch!! So fun 🙂 This will be so stinkin cute :)!!
I am a follower and need those reindeer games
I think a very long or perhaps 2 or three longish pillows some with each reindeer would look great crossing the top of a bed.
You could use the reindeer as the centre square in a log cabin type block then frame them up in clip frames as Christmas decorations. I think they are super sweet 🙂
I'm a follower through google reader 🙂
You could make a fireplace flag banner maybe called bunting, not sure. The triangle flags with binding around them on a rope. Im a follower.
Still a follower 😉 I'm also feeling the bunting vibe. It would be so cute as a tree garland!
Still following along!
I think the reindeer (which are great, btw!) would look wonderful as a series of mini quilts that you put up just over the holidays.
Hi there, I follow your blog and love the new design! I have this pattern and it makes great napkins, although I know someone who made them into lovely christmas cards for close family and friends.
I'm a follower! Love the new look. Way to go!
As I was scrolling down a few people said napkins, which I agree… OR!! Maybe, coasters for the Christmas dinner table?! 🙂
I follow you through Google Reader. I like Christmas pillows.
I follow you in my reader! 🙂 And I want to run right out and get a set of those transfers and follow you in making these, too! 🙂
The reindeer are so cute! I would make them into Christmas bunting! 🙂
I'm a follower! And am drawing a total blank on ideas for your reindeer. I guess you could frame them and give them away.
So cute! I think these reindeer would look nice on a table topper or tablecloth.
I am a follower 🙂
How about framing your lovely work in embroidery hoops. Finish with an embellishment of braid or red, white or green ric rac or braid..or anything you like to finish the edges or rub with a gold paint for a simpler effect and hang for a Christmas feature.
I am a follower but this is out of sequence I got carried away, excited even, to tell you my idea for your beautiful work!
Ooh, I'd love to win! I'm a follower, and my birthday just happens to be Tuesday…
I vote for a CHristmas wallhanging! So cute! Love the new blog header too.
i think i like the idea of a holiday garland/banner…or a tree skirt would be cute…or even a table scarf for a side table or the middle of a decorative table cloth…so many things you can do! i am a new follower and i really like your blog. 🙂
I am a follower.
I think they would make a really cute wall hanging!
The reindeers are adorable!! I think you're doing a great job!! A few years ago my redwork group did snowmen and our blocks were about the same size. Made mine into a wall hanging with sashing and a small border. You could even put some in a tablerunner. Keep on.. Practice makes perfect. hehe.
Thank you and Brenda for the giveaway and a chance to win.

Of course I'm a follower. Glad I found the right room.
Thanks again for a chance to win.

I am a follower and a quilt would be perfect~
I follow you on google reader 🙂 I think I would use some complimentary christmas fabrics to make the reindeer into kitchen or hand towels.
I'm a follower. I think a table runner or place mats would be great for the reindeer.
Maybe the center of a star??? I thought I was a follower, but I had to join again so that I can stalk you 🙂
I'm still a follower
I think I would go for a wall hanging or table runner. Although the tree skirt idea is cool too!
I am a follower. I would make a banner – bind and quilt and hang over mantle or patio door – too cute!
I'm following as Renee G on GFC and think these would be cute to make into placemats.
rsgrandinetti@yahoo(DOT)com
I would make them into a little wallhanging – frame them all in a narrow solid and then a pieced sashing. They are adorable! I follow you on Google Reader. Thank you for the awesome giveaway!
i am a new follower- i love them for a stocking!
i'm a follower! 🙂
i think the reindeer would look adorable on a runner type thing (that's the technical term, of course! *wink) that hangs over a fireplace mantle 🙂
A Christmas table runner? Or a wall hanging?
I'm a follower.
Oh your reindeers are so cute. I'd love to do these and put them on a tree skirt. Thanks for the giveaway.

Love those reindeer! So cute and vintage-ish! Your filing stitching is looking great by the way!
Of course I am a follower 😉
I am a follower.
I think your little reindeer would be cute if sewn into gift bags. OR you could make ornaments out of them (but they might a bit too big for that). What about a table runner? If you put insul bright in it you could use it as a hot pad during the holidays. The possibilities are endless.
I really like the Prancer reindeer 🙂 They are all really cute though! I think they would make a really sweet little Christmas "book". That's I would do…
And I follow via Google Reader 🙂
I follow! 🙂
Hmmm. Ideas… What about putting them on a table runner? (I know what I'd do with them. I've just started hunting for reindeer embroidery patterns for projects for my mom and sisters.) 🙂
I am a follower of your blog–good luck with the update–I think they would be cute in embroidery hoops. That way you could hang them as a collection.
I'm a follower! 🙂
I'm thinking either 1 big pillow with these sewn together in a grid OR several cute teeny pillows that you can sprinkle around your holiday decor. I love little decorations that don't take up much space. Cute job and great stitching! 🙂
I'm a follower, as well! I think these would make really cute potholders which could also be wall hangings and trivets, so multi-purpose!
