Finals!!!

Eeek! I just found out that I made it to the final round of the Moda Sliced Competition! This was definitely a tough week for the judges because all three of us had such different style aprons.

Thank you to everyone who went over to the site and left positive comments for all of the competitors. I want to be clear that I was actually not concerned with what people had said about my apron (I’m trying to develop a thicker skin), but I just feel all of the comments should be productive and not destructive. There were some nasty slurs being slung about but thankfully Moda stepped in and took care of it! Hopefully the competition will continue to be challenging and fun!

This final challenge…

The Challenge? Competitors Choice
Sewing Basket of Mystery Items:
· Fabric used from a Moda Layer Cake – can be any moda collection or mix of collections
· Grommets/Eyelets – Any size and any number of grommets/eyelets are allowed.
· Zipper – can be any size or color.

Competitor’s Choice?! No pressure there! lol

Well, I hope not to fall off the face of the earth this week, but forgive me if I do. A lot depends on what I decide to make. And at this point, I have no idea. Off to gather inspiration…whatever that may be. 😉

  1. yeah!!!! So excited for you!!! There were definitely some great entries so it must have been tough judging, but I also definitely think your apron was more than deserving of the final round!! Congrats!

  2. Congrats on making the finals! The goody sewing box this week sounds like fun! Zipper! Grommets! All good.

I didn't see any particularly nasty or negative comments about the aprons. Maybe Moda had already deleted them. What a waste of time and energy to spew negativity!

    Good luck, Angela 🙂

  3. Congratulations! I loved your apron, and it's good to hear that moda stepped in so you don't have to develop too tough of a skin. Good luck on the next round!

  4. not gonna lie, i'm pretty curious about what nasty slurs could be thrown around regarding an apron.

like i said before, you're going all the way!!!! next stop: cut to pieces world domination tour.

  5. Don't let the haters get to you. I PERSONALLY loved your apron! It was so sleek and would be perfect as a hostess apron. I thought they were all great, but I really thought yours stood out:)

  6. Woo hoo! Congrats. Sorry about the negative comments. I didn't see them, but I can't understand how anyone could be mean! Clearly all three aprons took a lot of time and effort. It seems like you could appreciate that even if it's not your particular style. Anyway, well deserved! I can't wait to see what you come up with next!

  7. YIPEEEEEEEE!!! I knew it!! Ok, one more to go 🙂 When I saw the "competitor's choice", I thought, "UGH! That's tough!" Yup, no pressure :). But I know that a challenge makes you all the more creative so I can hardly wait to see what you design! Enjoy the process- I can only imagine the stress, but make it something fun that you truly love. Then you will win, no matter what the results 🙂 I am sooooo excited for you! Crossing fingers, toes, arms, legs, eyes, 🙂 You go girl!

  8. Yay… good for you. Though I don't envy you doing the next one! The aprons were all good in their own way, and it's sad that one had to go, but I do wish people could be nicer. Good Luck! Can't wait to see what you come up with. Hugs

  9. How exciting! I wish you all the best!

I've never been able to understand the people who leave negative comments. If I don't like something or don't agree with a blogger, I move on. Very simple. It's not like having a mother-in-law you have to make peace with. 🙂

  10. Good luck Angela! I was quite surprised at some of the mean-spirited and apparently sour grapes comments too. Happy to hear Moda made them go away! Good luck to you!

  11. Good LUCK! Get that creative mind of yours going – think out of the box. Do something that no one else would have even thot of. How's that for advice? 🙂

  12. Good luck! You have done great sewing not just quilts. I hope to expand my skills to things besides just quilts. There was a lot of drama this round all around which is kind of bizarre to me. I do not envy the judges one bit right now!

  13. Congratulations! I love your apron! Don't worry about what other people have to say – easier said then done, I know. Can't wait to see what you create for this challenge! Good luck!
