Quiltmaker 100 Blocks – vol 5!

Today I’m happy to share that I have a block in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks – Volume 5!

You’ve got to look for me in there…I’m all the way near the end.  lol  But I’m in there! #92 or 94 or something.

Quiltmaker 100 Blocks - vol 5!

I broke into my Mendocino stash to create this pretty mermaid block paired with some Farmdale Blossoms and a Riley Blake dot. Oh I just love all of these fabrics together!! I really tried to get the mermaids to have some movement and feel like they were swimming in the strips.

Quiltmaker 100 Blocks - vol 5!

The fabrics are the showcase in the block I put in the magazine, but I simplified the look by evening out the borders and creating each block in a just two tones.

Quiltmaker 100 Blocks - vol 5!

The technique to make the blocks is just the same as the one show in Quiltmaker…but even easier with only the one print to worry about. And I LOVE the secondary pattern that shows up when you pair multiple blocks together. I have about 6 or so of these blocks made and I need to make more! This is a quilt that needs to happen in my world.

Quiltmaker 100 Blocks - vol 5!

Patterns that read as solid like or monochromatic are perfect this kind of layout. Just solids would be amazing too. You get a great texture from the seams but it is still simple and very usable. Mitered and on pointe?! Perfect!  Oh and this geometric pattern is very male friendly.  I know we are all always on the lookout for a pattern the men in our lives would like….errr…tolerate….err…love!

  1. These are gorgeous together! I agree that the secondary pattern is also equally interesting. Congrats on being featured! Right now I am looking forward to the Quilt Blocks collection by Ellen Luckett Baker.

  2. Great block! I love how it shows off the fabric. My current fave is Echo by Lotta Jansdotter and I have been looking for a block design to make my echo fabrics into a quilt. I think I might have just found the perfect block for it!

    1. Oh I think Echo would look Fabulous in this block design. Lotta's prints are so simple they would really suit the simplicity of the block as well. And many are monochromatic! Good choice!

  3. Beautiful block! Can't wait to play with it!
My current fav fabric lines are Vintage Modern and …. well…. everything from 3 Sisters!….. and everything from the Quilted Fish!

  4. Great block! I love it!! My favourite fabric that I hide away, not yet sure what to do from, is Erin Mcmorris' Summersault, cartwheel in blue. Thanks for the giveaway!

  5. I haven't been looking at fabric much because my budget at the moment says I can't 🙁 But I do like Papillon and keep hoping I am going to find this at 75% off so I can buy some…. LOL. Congrats on getting your block in the mag.

  6. Great block and I like the design once you add additional blocks! I love Etchings and Hello Luscious right now but I am so looking forward to fall and MARMALADE!

  7. Cute block, and I agree that the secondary design is great. Right now I'm trying to convince myself that my favorite fabric is anything I already OWN. But if I were buying, I'd love to have a few pieces from Fruit Slice.

  8. Great block – will definitely make it. My favorite fabric line right now is Chrysalis by Sanae for Moda. Thanks for the chance to win.

  9. Beautiful quilt block – it will make a stunning quilt! My current favorite line is Millie's Closet by Lori Holt. It has a fun, vintage vibe. Thanks for the chance to win!

  10. Love your block, and who can say they have a favorite fabric, sorry I cant I love it all, everytime I buy some that's my favorite till the next time, and I too don't need to buy anymore, but I can always use more and will continue to buy until it runs me out of my house… thanks for a chance to win vol 5 I love these books…..

  11. I love the secondary design as well. Awesome. Right now I'm working with Northcott's Stonehenge collection and really love it. Thanks for the chance to win!

  12. I super love this block!
Of course there are some great new fabric lines I am lovin', but Sandi Henderson Meadowsweet has got my attention these days. Especially the butterflies!

  13. Great block! I love all of Aneela Hoey's fabrics–I think A Walk in the Woods is my favorite yet. Thanks for the chance to win!

  14. Oh, such a beautiful block, congratulations, Angela!

I just bought some Laurel Burch "Flying Colors II" hummingbird fabric and I just love it, I think I need to get more while I still can.

Thanks for a shot at winning the book!

  15. Your block looks easy enough for even me to make! It's lovely and I can see it would make a fabulous quilt. The line that makes my heart quiver right now is Woodland Tails by Riley Blake.

  16. Congrats on the magazine, Angela! That's a great block! Right now, I'm really trying to get my hands on some Bright Remix Stripe by Ann Kelle of Robert Kaufman. 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!

  17. I really like the versatility of your block, Angela. The points and corners meet up beautifully. Are the blocks pieced or paper pieced? My favorite fabric line right now is whatever I am using from my stash. 🙂

    1. Suzanne these blocks were completely pieced. No paper piecing involved. The trick is to sew the strips together into rows first and then angle cut the pieces. Then sew them together!

  18. Love this block and is one I would really use = I can already see several pieces of my stash in this. Thanks for sharing – now I HAVE to have the magazine!

  19. You are a wonderful writer!!! I've added your blog to my bookmarks so I can check back regularly. When I first saw the mermaid block I thought, oh this is cute, but not for me. Then when I saw the geometric two color revision and the secondary pattern that develops, I AM WOW-ED. Can't wait to make one for myself too! I hope I can miter on pointe…may take some practice. I am so enticed by the Bollywood Bliss line by Jane Spolar.

  20. Gorgeous block, I'll be looking out for this magazine! I'm really loving Outfoxed at the moment, trying to stash away a bit extra 'just in case'!

  21. I love this block and am looking forward to making it into a quilt. Thanks for the great give away. Right now I love anything batik.

  22. I love this block! It would be cool using the printed area as solid and the solid area as printed too. Might need to try that. I am loving Curious Nature at the moment and this block would be perfect for that line!

  23. Such a cool block – love the way you've shown the different options! I love soooo much fabric, but I'm happy that Barefoot Roses by Tanya Whelan is making a comeback.

  24. Congratulations on your block! I presently have some Flea Market Fancy looking longingly at me, but also have Summersville on its way to me! Should have a busy summer! Thanks for the chance to win the magazine.

  25. I don't really have a current favorite line of fabric as I am in a dotty mood and have been some time. I've been collecting dots of all kinds! LOL. 🙂

Thank you for showcasing the block. I really like the different colorways.

  26. I think I am going to love the new line by V and Co. for Moda. It is Simply Color. From what I've seen I think it is going to be beautiful.

    cwhelan at williamwoods dot edu

  27. Love your block – both the original and the "solids" version!! Congratulations on being included! I am very excited for Sweetwater's new line, Mama Said Sew< to begin appearing in stores – it looks like a lot of fun!

  28. Congrats! I love the secondary pattern, it really looks great. Hmmm, fabric I am loving… Well, I saw a peek of Bonnie and Camile's Marmalade a few days ago and I can't stop thinking about it!

  29. My favorite line right now is Water by Kaffe Fassett. Congratulations on being in the magazine. I love your block and the different designs it creates as you add blocks to it. A really fun quilt and it could be made for anyone depending on the fabric used.

  30. Angela, that is one gorgeous block! I especially love it in the Mendocino prints, but the others are just as lovely (especially the aqua one!). As to my favorite fabric right now, I'm loving Aneela Hoey's A Walk In the Woods and even though I know it's not new I'd love to someday get my hands on some Ruby. 🙂

  31. A real fun block and I love how it forms a secondary pattern with more blocks . I don't really have a favorite line at the moment . I love them all;-)

  32. I honestly do not have a favorite fabric or fabric line….simply boils down to, I Love All Fabrics! I've had a passion for fabrics ever since I was a toddler…started around 18 months and hasn't stopped for over 50 years! 🙂
Currently I am working with some 'left-over' actually horded fabrics from the 30's.

    sowingstitches [at] yahoo [dot] com

  33. I love that block! My favorite fabric today is Matsuri. I will soon be starting one of Eleanor Burns' Quick Trip crib quilts a new baby who has a mid-July eta.

  34. Your block looks like a lot of fun. I love the way they look all together! I love Sweetwater's new line Lucy's Crab Shack, and also their line coming out this fall, Sew Mama Sew.

  35. I've been seeing some sneak previews of new fabric lines, and since I am partial to Christmas, there are some great new collections on the horizon, and some available now. Never too early to start Christmas projects! Love your block design – it goes together so perfectly!

  36. Love the block and the possibilities it has. I use fabrics I like, so it involves a lot of lines. I am using a lot of things from my stash. That is definately a lot of different fabrics!

  37. My favorite line of fabric right now is the one with red riding hood, mushrooms, a fox — it's haunting me. Need to make a wooded quilt with a small red riding hood and a big fox. (I know the fairy tale has a big bad wolf, but the fabric is definitely foxy!) I think it is Moda's Walk in the Woods.

  38. A very cool block, and I like the look with the different colored blocks. I am looking forward to the release of Women of Courage by Nancy Gere. Thanks for a chance.

  39. Yes it is nice to have a men friendly block to make a quilt, love the secondary pattern and so yes I want to make this for my son.
Thanks for the giveaway. Batiks are one of my new favorite fabrics.

  40. What a nice clean line block. i can easily see me doing it in the 30's collection of fats I just purchased! Thanks so much for sharing.

  41. I love reproduction fabrics and primitives. I am waiting for Lisa Bonjean's new line called Old Glory Gatherings to come out this fall. So cute.

  42. At the moment, I'm really into Hoffman 1895 fabric. These would be GREAT to use in your block! Congrats! Thanks for the chance to win.

  43. Wonderful block!!! I love all the fabric lines by French General. Petite Odile is their new line. I'd love to purchase some yardage. Have a wonderful day!

  44. I really like Moda…I also love the new bright fabrics that are out. I am especially grateful for your block since I have 3 sons and 5 grandsons that all want quilts! I love the way it comes together. thanks!

  45. I have been into reproduction fabrics lately, so I love the judy rothermal and barbara brackman lines.
I like how you used the mermaids in your block, fun idea and I have a mermaid theme in my bathroom.

  46. Of course you need to buy more fabric! What are you saying?
Hmm, my fave of the moment is probably Summersville. Or maybe Good Fortune. Or possibly the reissues of Pez or FMF. Or perhaps….

  47. Love your block-can't believe how different it can look in the one where you used the mendocino fabric.
Right now I am loving A Stitch in Color! I just used it in a quilt and I love the way the colors & prints play off each other

  48. I need to get my solid stash up so kona but I like the look of Abigail and think perhaps it's not really too early to start buying some Christmas fabric :O)

  49. I say I am not going to buy anymore fabric, but, until I walk into a shop. I do not have the will power……And yes, I come out with more to add to my stash…..I love all of them. It is hard to part with them too. But I know that my children will cherish them. They always bring their quilts with them when they come to visit. They also put in their orders for Christmas so I will have plenty of time to make them another. LOL! Thank you for sharing and Congrats to you on your published block. It is beautiful…Judith, Texas

  50. I love Laura Gunn. It's tricky to use for quilting because it's not the simple, clean style that easily looks modern even if you cut the fabric into small pieces.
I am working on an apron make with her large scale teal and maroon poppy print and I looooove it.

  51. I love that block! Hmm, I'm working on a quilt front with Pezzy Print Charms (American Jane for Moda Fabrics) so I'm enjoying THAT most at the moment, I bet incorporating some of these blocks on the black with a Pezzy Print jelly roll on the back would look awesome!

  52. I like the Hoffman Batiks. I think the beautiful geometry of your block is very well suited to batiks. I would like to use a multiple color palette giving specific attention to value and less attention to color. I think it would be fun to see some varieties on a design board.

  53. wow! these look amazing! I'm really loving Cloud9's Alegria and Monsterz fabrics.. and the new animal sketch one.. I love cloud9 so much.. 🙂

  54. I love how this block looks and it would be awesome in a whole quilt. My favorite fabric right now is Ta Dots by Michael Miller. One can never have too many dots in their stash.

  55. Aneela Hoey has a new line for Christmas coming out. I would love to get my hands on some of that, but I truly love everything she desgins. Your mermaid block reminds me of her style. Great great job on that one,,,,beautiful color selection. Glad my vote helped you make it into Quiltmakes Magazine. CONGRATS to you!!

  56. Nancy Angerer

Really great block. I don't have a favorite fabric right now. I love scrappy quilts — perhaps that is what I grew up with. I love fabric. In fact I am not sure I have seen anything that I really dislike:)

  57. Wow, I love this block! Thanks for the inspiration. I am a scrappy type quilter who loves to use Kona cottons, Dimples, Fairy Frost and Fossil Ferns in my quilts. I have yet to meet a fabric I didn't like. Thanks for the giveaway!

  58. I really like the way your blocks play together in a quilt! I have my eye on Silk Road by Cassie for Benartex for a project for my daughter, Kate.

  59. I love this block with the monochromatic print and white. I bet is would be great with batiks. Don't really have a favorite fabric or line or color…I love them all!!

  60. Your mermaid block is really a cute idea for a little girl in your family. The secondary pattern could become a quilt for yourself. Good idea, don't you agree? There are so many endless possibilities. Just like the fabric lines. How can you just choose one when you really want them all. So many decisions. Thank you for giving us all a chance to win such a wonderful creative magazine. I enjoy your blog and always look foward to visiting often.

    Sandi T.

  61. Gorgeous block! I know what you mean about getting fabrics out of your system. I always felt like if I got to work with a fabric line in a bee (someone else's fabric), the obsession calmed down a bit. Still, I am looking forward to basic grey's newish line, and Tradewinds has some fun prints, too.

  62. Wow-love your block! And thanks for showing several together-I always like seeing how blocks will lay out and this is a stunner! Hmm, my all time favorite line which happens to also be current is Fresh Cut by Heather Bailey. I love all her lines!

  63. I am crushing hard on the new Ed Emberly Happy Drawing fabric line! Love your block and will look forward to seeing your finished quilt. Congrats on making that great magazine!

  64. Fun block! The swimming mermaids are cute. My favorite line right now is the latest by Edyta Sitar, Laundry Baskets quilts. Her batiks are so yummy! Thanks!

  65. LOVE your block Angela. It's awesome and yes, the secondary design is very cool. What's great too is that it's an excellent block for a newbie in the quilting world. Love it. I may have missed in reading your post but what is the name of your block?

I can't say it's my favorite but it's a fabric line that I just saw today and think it's a wonderful one for quilting. The name is Birds & Berries Lauren & Jessi Jung for Moda Fabrics.

  66. LOVE this block! Another quilt I have to make — great secondary pattern when they are combined. I just recently discovered Garden Divas by Jane Sassman. It was love at first sight!

  67. I particularly like the secondary pattern – I would love to make it from my favourite bali batiks from Hofman. And I bought a Blueberry Bali Pops on Friday!

  68. Im still stuck on Summer Breezes II Im addicted to the blue, white, yellow combos. Very fun block but some of us who arent so good at peicing will have to practice! Thanks for the chance.

  69. Angela, thanks for adding to the small library of male friendly designs. Someone from yesterday's Blog Hop used the mermaid fabric in their design too. I don't have a particular favorite fabric line right now, but I'm pretty partial to the cute owl fabric and it's coordinating line. Sandi

  70. Terrific block, and congratulations! I am currently obsessed with Red Rooster's Melrose collection–the deep purples, greys, creams, and black modern prints. Unfortunately, my obsession came a bit late. Even though it just came out last fall, I've been scavenging the web for bits and pieces. I now have what I need, though. 🙂

  71. Cuzco by Kate Spain is going to be a beautiful collection. Her blog states Cuzco is scheduled to ship to shops some time in late Sept. early Oct.
Your block is lovely! Especially like the ones "with almost solids"… you definitely must finish that quilt.

  72. I'm really into scrap quilts right now and using up my stash, so I haven't been looking at many of the new fabrics. Love your block in blue and white!

  73. Beautiful block. Love those fabrics. I really love all fabric, but my favorite is anything in the 1930's Reproduction line. Congratulations and thank you for the giveaway.

  74. Lovely block. Congrats on being chosen for a block. I love the secondary pattern also. Right now I am big on the Bali Batiks. I am also loving all the different Halloween fabrics getting ready to come out.

  75. I am having a lot of fun using the blacks and whites in my stash right now. No particular line, just many different fabrics! Congrats on being chosen for this wonderful magazine!

  76. Congratulations on having your block chosen! I can't wait to get my hands on volume 5! I have the other 4 issues and refer back to them all the time! I love any and all fabric so I don't really have a favorite!

  77. Your block is so much fun with the materials you selected. My favorite fabric is any oriental especially Hoffman and Kona Bay – quickly learning to enjoy bali batiks also.

    Mickey in TX

  78. LOVELY!!! I don't have a fav line at the moment- I am loving text prints though 🙂 Although I am really looking forward to Marmalade this fall 😉

  79. Just love your blocks! My favorite line right now is Sweetwatter's Fabric line, Lucy's Crab Shack. It is so cute you just have to smile.

  80. I love the mermaid fabric block! Its so awesome! Congrats. My favorite line is Walk in the Woods by Moda. And anything with owls or hedgehogs 🙂 THanks for the chance to win!

  81. Love your block, congrats. I like the way it does make a second pattern when pieced together. Right now I'm into Jo Morton fabric, but seems my interest changes often. Thanks

  82. Congrats on being included, I love the Mendocino version :o)

At the moment I'm sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for my Summersville bundle to arrive :o)

  83. I love fabrics in a weird way. I rarely use a line… i just go in the store and grab whats purty to me. Right now im on a mission to get as many dots as possible… Does that count?

  84. Love your block – it looks simple but when put all together – gives a really great look. I, too, love the All About Coffee line coming out soon.

  85. I LOVE your block! It is such a great block & I would love to make a quilt with it using Lotta Jansdotter's new fabric line Bella.

  86. I like the 'coming soon' fabric collection Abigail by BJ Lantz for Quilting Treasures because I love the lime, blues, & browns together. Thanks for a great giveaway! 🙂

  87. OK… long comment coming up LOL

I *love* the version with the mermaids… I could never do it though because I just don't have that eye for fabrics, but wow!!

So I am *thrilled* that you included the simpler version… If I weren't in 3 bees right now I would ask to be able to use it in a bee… I still may in the next few months LOL

Fabrics… I'm pretty in love with learning to not stick with one line, but mixing and matching (see above comment)… and I am learning to love colour and big prints… but it's a slow process :)But I wouldn't say no to the new Lotta line – the post-Echo one 🙂

Congrats on yet this new success… I love seeing this amazing upwards journey you have been on in the last little while 🙂

  88. Love both your examples of your block. Favorite fabric… I don't know that I have a favorite but I'm looking forward to Vanessa Christenson's new line.

  89. I love the second version of this block. As for favorite fabric line…..can't say I have any one particular favorite–I love it all! I've been doing a lot of scrap quilts lately. I love the variety they offer.

  90. I like the way your block looks together. I can't pick a favorite fabric line because unfortunately I love everything I see, but am usually drawn to 30's prints. I love reproduction fabrics.

  91. I really like the 3d affect your block has. my favorite fabric changes with every fabric i see

  92. I have been looking for a block that would make the most of a hoarded Lily & Will jellyroll. I think that this is the one! Thank you.

  93. Nice blocks. I don't usually go for a particular designer. If I like one piece in the store, I usually will try to add a couple more in the same tones, just so that a wallhanging can be made out of it. I often don't look to matchy matchy patterns. Don't like them too much

  94. Your block is one of my favorites I've seen! I'm loving so many fabric lines right now; Summersville, Ten Little Things, Peak Hour, Reunion top the list. Thanks for chance to win! (Email: marshudson at comcast dot net)

  95. Your bloock is awesome…your points are so exact, pray for the rest of us! I'm in love with Moda's Independance Trail that is supposed to be released soon. Congrats & thanks for the giveaway.
    (tracydvr at comcast dot net)

  96. Great block! I love how the extra squares form when the blocks are joined together. There are always so many neat new fabrics. I'm not sure I can pick just one. Maybe Vintage Modern or Independence Trail or Summerville or Mama Said Sew.
Thanks for a chance to win.

  97. I love your block and the repeating pattern. I am really in to colors and have been getting different Kona's. Thank you.

  98. I am newer to sewing and unemployed, so I have a mainly nonexistent stash, but I am always keeping my eye out for nice prints. I love when bloggers post what fabric they are using!

  99. I really like your block. I can see this block as a great scrap stashbuster. I'm so into scrap quilts these days. I would be hard pressed to name 1 favorite fabric or designer. I'm partial to Northcott, Moda, Red Rooster, Blank, Clothworks, see what I mean? Too many fabrics, so little time. Thanks for a chance to win the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks and congrats for being chosen to be in it.

  100. This is a GREAT block – one of the first I can REALLY REALLY see myself making!!!! I can't wait to get my hands on this issue!!! Fabric lines? nothing in particular – I buy what jumps out at me usually regardless of the line – but I am pulled to orange in nearly any shade. Love my orange.

  101. What a great block. It will make an amazing quilt. I love all the different fabrics that you used. I don't have a specific line that is my favorite but I do like batiks.

  102. Wow, this is a block that looks really simple, but put a bunch together side by side and they create fun secondary patterns! You're right….this is such a versatile pattern for so many fabrics!
Personally, I love blenders (like the "Blenders" I can get at Walmart, or the Quilter's Candy Mirage you can get at ConnectingThreads.com)…the type that are tone-on-tone, not quite solids that create a tiny hint of texture and add interest. They create a place for your eye to relax a bit if mixed with patterned prints, but are not boring. And new fabrics I'm now in love with….I'm coming to appreciate batiks! I really want to make a quilt with batiks now!!! After the QM blog tour of yesterday, I have fallen in love with Holly Taylor's batiks from Moda. Pretty and subtle colors in nature prints. awwww, comforting and fun.

  103. I'm not a 'line' lover…there'll be one fabric I like, maybe two, and then it's a matter of which solids I can pair it with. Lots of love for Valori Wells' Wrenly Wildfield, though. I have it in the red-pink and in the blue-green colourways.

  104. I'm loving Vintage Modern at the moment, especially the larger florals in it; must have yardage in that when it's released. I do have charm pack though.

  105. I always seem to find kaufman on the selvedges of the fabric selections that follow me home on impulse. 😉 Sometimes I go to the store determined to get a "color" I'm short of. Congrats on being in the 100 block mag…back of the book is where I ALWAYS start reading 🙂

  106. Believe it or not, I actually don't have any fabric collections on my must have list right now. That's really hard for even ME to believe! I was shopping with Fabric.com the other day, trying to get to my $35 so I could get free shipping, and was having a hard time trying to figure out what to put in the cart! But, Spring market is right around the corner and I have been seriously drooling over the sneak peeks I've been seeing of Tula Pink's new collection. I am a HUGE Tula fan and can't wait to get my hands on the new stuff!

  107. My favorite fabric line in "ON SALE". Never can make up my mind so I usually stick to the sale fabrics. Love your block–especially when you put several together. Makes a really neat design. Something I would make.

  108. I really like simple, not complex blocks and this one fits that bill perfectly! I'm liking several collections at the moment: "Apple of My Eye", "Flock", "Summersville", and "Cocoon".

  109. My current fave fabric is Leesa Chandler's "Passage to India," for Hoffman. I'm still waiting on some backordered peacock desgn, I don't think I will get it. Probably sold out. But, I do have yardage of 3 other of the designs.

Your block is striking. Congrats on making the magazine.

    trilliumcreates AT gmail DOT com

  110. I'm loving Michael Miller's Ta Dot – I love dots so much! Might be perfect for making this block — I absolutely love these and am adding them to my "to make" list!

  111. I'm so glad you made a pattern for this block, and congrats on getting published again! You are seriously a rock star!

My current favorite is Children at Play by Sarah Jane. I finally have all the prints after much swapping (OK, and a little buying!) and I'm going to add in some matching solids to make two Apple Core quilts–one girl and one boy! I only have a gazillion other projects to finish up before I'm allowed to start something new, but it WILL happen…someday! 🙂

  112. Love your block. So many cool blocks in that magazine, I must pick one up.
My current favorite is Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket. It just feels so summery. Sooo looking forward to inhaling some actual salt air this summer.

  113. I love your blocks! That Farmdale print is gorgeous, I'd never seen it before. I'm not going to be much use with the fabric question as we're always months behind in the UK, I'm still loving Ruby at the moment.

  114. Wow Angela, that is certainly a fabulous block! Gosh, I have so many favourite fabrics, but I really like Primitive, Civil War designs. One of my faves is "Little Gatherings".
Thanks for the chance at the give-away.
    mgw070 (at) shaw (dot)ca

  115. That's a GREAT block Angela, and translate so well as a quilt. I'm a bit out of the loop on the new fabrics but to be boring, Echo has sprung to mind for me too, it's my latest buy anyhow.

  116. Love your block – it's so versatile! I would love to see it made up on Timeless Treasures Gumdrop Tonga Batik line – it's so bright and lively!!!

  117. Cool Block! 🙂 Love the dark blue one the best! My favorite fabric right now is Parson Gray's Curious Lines! 🙂 Thanks for a chance to win! 🙂

  118. Congrats on having a block in the magazine. Your block is beautiful in all the colors. I don't really have a favorite fabric line but if i had to pick one, it would probably be Moda.

  119. I Love your Quilt Block! And the Mermaid Fabric is Adorable! My current Favorite Fabric Line is by Jessica Jones called Outside Oslo….

  120. Your block is amazing. I love that there is a secondary design as well when all put together. Congratulations on being included in Quiltmaker's 100 this year. For fabric I love anything Kate Spain does. I'm also loving Vintage Modern.

Thank you for a great giveaway and a chance to win.

  121. It's not like I own the fabric I love.. but I just can't stop dreaming about Commute by Jay-Cyn Designs. And the cherry on top is that it's organic too. Why must my lack of money taunt me so!!!!?

  122. Just love the impact white has when joined together so looking forward to the finished product. Oh, by the way, like the block which made it possible.

Cuzco from Kate Spain and if I could add another Moda, Tapestry from FigTree.
Two different designs and colorways. Just love color.

  123. I've been using lots of solids lately – maybe it's the Modern Quilt movement. This would be a great use of my stash. Glad you're in the magazine. Better late than never. Kathie L in Allentown

  124. A current favorite fabric line is Lotta Jansdotter's Echo. I love your block, BTW, done up in the Mendocino fabric. It's absolutely beautiful and so like my style! Thanks for the chance at this giveaway!

  125. Lovely block, and it's great to see how a little variation changes the look.
I'm currently tempted by Mama Said Sew (by Sweetwater).

  126. I love your block:) I'm not sure I could match all the seams as perfectly as you did, even with the lines in the fabric print 🙂 Congrats on your new house! Nothing like doing a little sewing to make it feel like home! In honor of firing up the air conditioning this week (yikes, I know, right?), I have been sewing with Kate Spain's 12 Days of Christmas. Makes me feel like I'm working ahead…and thinking of cooler weather helps me from setting the a/c on the Siberia setting.

  127. Beautiful blocks – they look so complicated even though they seem fairly straight-forward. Love the different effects you can get with it!

I'm currently waiting for V&Co for Moda's Simply Color. There are ombre jelly rolls and I'm dying to get my hands on some. Thanks!

  128. I haven't signed up to win this mag on other blogs because I hadn't rally seen anything that I was taken by…until now! sign me up to win! My fav line right now is by Marcia Derse. OH, this would be a stunning block with her fabrics…

  129. I love your block. I'm definitely looking forward to Lucy's Crab Shack & Mama Said Sew by Sweetwater and Marmalade by Bonnie & Camille.

  130. Lovely blocks and workmanship!
thanks so much for a chance to win volume #5

Happy Sewing and continued success to you :0)

  131. I'm really enjoying Reunion right now and working on a twin quilt for my 8yo son. It's the perfect boy fabric without being too youngish.

  132. Just came upon this!! Love the block! But cannot find the magazine. Where would I find the pattern for the block?
    Thanks Susan

  133. I love this block; especially the secondary pattern that looks like X’s and O’s (hugs and kisses)! I’ve tried to order the quilt book it’s published in, but can’t find it bc the edition is from several years ago. Is there anywhere I can find instructions for this block? Thanks!

  134. I’d also love to find the instructions for the block! I found the image of the ‘solids’ version on Pinterest and can’t get it out of my head, but baby brain is keeping me from figuring out how to do it myself…help?

  135. I’d love to get the instructions for the second block (two tone). I think it would be a great idea for scraps! Is there any way I can buy the design for just the 1 block?
