It’s almost like being in Love!

*the giveaway is now closed*

Today just happens to be my 9th wedding anniversary.  In some ways, time has flown by and in other ways, I think it could be longer. 😉  We’ve been through a lot together and life can be crazy…but crazy is better than boring!

In the spirit of celebrating, I wanted to both finish up one giveaway and start another.

First off, is the winner of the Flurry layer cake from The Fat Quarter Shop.  I think it would have been cute if the lucky winner was number 9, but nope…it was # 50!

Who is Shelly!

(Remember we were celebrating Christmas then!)

It's almost like being in Love

Congrats to you Shelly!  I hope you enjoy that Christmas fabric.  Oh and I adore your email address.  I’m sort of jealous that it is not mine!  lol

But wait everyone, there is more!  I told you that we had a new sponsor coming and here she is!  It’s Brenda from Pink Castle Fabrics!

(ack! My computer is being weird and won’t let me put her pink castle logo in this thread…but you can see it in my sidebar.  You can’t miss it.  It’s the only Pink Castle over there. 😉  )

I just ordered the most luscious fabrics from Brenda!  Most of them were from the Newest Joel Dewberry line (quite possibly my favorite designer!) Heirloom.  Tell me that these are not sooo delicious!!

It's almost like being in Love

This man is killing me because that is not even all of the colorways in this collection!  Stop the madness!!  So many fabrics, so little time.

I also got some irresistible new fabrics from a line called Dazzle.  These are the basketweave prints.  Brenda has too many yummy fabrics!

So, Brenda has graciously agreed to do a giveaway of a Jelly Roll of…. well, you all voted….and the results were pretty interesting.  But hands down the clear winner was Little Apples!  So we will be doing a giveaway of Little Apples Jellyroll!  (but if you don’t prefer that line we might be able to twist Brenda’s arm into giving you the one that you voted for!)

It's almost like being in Love

So, given that it is my 9th wedding anniversary, this time I’d love to hear from you about something marriage-related.  A piece of advice that you live by… Your favorite way to celebrate an anniversary (Lynne I already know what you are going to say!)…  The song you danced to at your wedding…. (the title of the post is ours!).  Really anything about marriage!  Everyone has something to say on this subject, so this is obviously not only limited to married people.  lol.  We’re all full of opinions!

To enter the giveaway:
1.  Leave a marriage/anniversary/wedding related comment
2.  Run over to Brenda’s shop and leave a comment back here telling me your favorite item she has or what you would like to see her carry.

Enjoy!!

  1. Happy anniversary!! We will be 9 in about 5 months.I don't like to give advice on a subject that is a work in progress but I think that being great friends makes for a happy marriage. As far as pink chalk, I'm itching for the cross weaves bundle! Thanks for the give away.

  2. Marriage advice…marry someone that you can nickname "mr. Romance" or Mr. Fun…the marriage just keeps getting better and better. Married 39 years and loving every second of it. Congrats on #9!

  3. Happy anniversary!!!! Time does fly doesn't it?!?!

This year is my 6th wedding anniversary…and i am only 24 🙂 my husband and i eloped and were married in the rainforest at 18 with just 4 people there (including ourselves). Then about 2 months into our marriage we found out that we had a bun in the oven and now six years later we have a 5 year old and a 3 year old and life is grand! I wouldn't change it for anything in the world. We didn't have a first dance or a wedding song but we had each other and that's all that matters!

  4. Happy Anniversary. Advice- Marriage isn't a 50/50 partnership, it's 100% from each of you all the time. And don't keep score-(you got this so it's my turn to get that). Together you are so much more than separate. Next month we'll celebrate 42 years of wedded bliss. Sometimes bliss, mostly hard work but loads of fun, laughter and enjoying being together. congratualtions and many, many more.

  5. Happy anniversary! Enjoy your celebrations. My husband and I both FORGOT our 6 year anniversary – so my advice to my husband in that situation is to – buy your wife some flowers. 🙂

  6. And I was shopping at pink castle fabrics yesterday for some solids I am going to use to make his and hers quilts for our bed. I have a fq set of good folks I am going to split into warm and cool colours. There wasn't room for much else in my parcel, but if there had been I really like the cape Ann layer cake. 🙂

  7. I am not yet married. But I would love to have a own song and maybe restaurant where I could celebrate with my beloved every year we shared 🙂

    Bye

  8. Thanks to you and Brebda, I've found what the delicious yellow crosshatch print I've been looking for is called! its the Pirate Grid in Corn Yellow for Pirate Pups by Alexander Henry Fabric. Yippie!

  9. Happy 9th Anniversary! For our 10th anniversary, my husband conspired with the waitstaff at the resort where we were staying, and I got a ruby and diamond ring on top of my apple pie ala mode! Our anniversary was Valentine's Day and I thought it was a little trinket that everyone got, until I realized the waitstaff and our friends at our table were all laughing at me! My present to him? Matching sweatshirts that said "10 Long Miserable Years" (a family joke).

  10. Happy Anniversary. We celebrated our Silver Wedding by going on holiday to Lake Maggiore in Italy our Hotel was right on the side of the lake. It was the most magical place, it was used for weddings and the guests at the hotel were always invited to the party afterwards. Next year we celebrate our 40th unfortunately we dont have the same disposable income so I doubt we will be celebrating in style again. Linda

  11. Happy Anniversary. Thanks for "sharing the love"!

Our wedding song … 26 years ago … was Bob Marley's "Turn The Lights Down Low". My husband picked it. He was in his reggae phase. A phase that seems to have lasted. I've never been as crazy about reggae as my husband is but I'm still crazy about him, so it works. What really makes me laugh, though, is that a couple years after our wedding a group of friends were at our place. There was music on and as one song started to play a friend said, "Hey! That's your wedding song!". It wasn't. It was "Buffalo Soldier" … a reggae song … also by Bob Marley. I laughed! And because of that whenever I hear "Buffalo Soldier", I think of our wedding.

Silly memories are great. I'm sure you have many of your own, too.

  12. Happy Anniversary! Number 8 for us next January. Our wedding song was "It must be Love" by Don Williams. Kickin' it ol' school country 🙂

  13. What a fabulous online shop! Thanks so much for introducing us to it! So many fabrics to love, such as …

Wing Study in Meadow Botanika by Paula Prass for Michael Miller Fabrics

Etched Blossoms in Black Lakehouse Drygoods La Belle Rose 3

Basketweave in Tan Dazzle by Melissa Averinos

Buoyancy in Deep Blue louLOUthi by Anna Maria Horner

    Heather Ross's Laundry Clothesline

Any of the crossweaves and shot cottons

Something tells me I'll be placing an order. You're an enabler. I'm not sure if I should thank you or not.

  14. Well, I'm not married and am not big on weddings and all that. I do have to say from living with men, it's been less stressful when chores are clearly defined. In the past, my exes and I always fought over them not doing anything. My boyfriend and I discussed before moving in together who would do what. For us, since we live in a house, it was simple: I take care of the inside and he takes care of the outside. This includes all the cooking for me and he repairs my car and picks up after our dogs. The only exceptions are my garden, which I tend to, and if something needs to be fixed inside.

  15. It's hard to choose, but the first new fabric that caught my eye was the Wing Study by Paula Prass for Michael Miller.

  16. Congratulations! We are headed for 6 years this September. So, I guess you would have more advice than I would, but the one thing I tell all of my newly married friends is to spend time with other happy couples. When you surround yourself with happiness and love, it's easy to just sit back and enjoy life.
    Congrats!!!!
    Jen

  17. Oops. I forgot to tell you my FAVORITE fabric from Brenda's shop. It has got to be:

Tweet Tweet in black and white with red for Studio E Essential

I LOVE IT!!!! I might even buy some right now! LOL.

  18. We have many anniversaries, first time we met, first kiss, first time we declared love to each other and then nearly froze to death (not really) in the Scottish highlands… these all seem more important to me than the wedding anniversary. 🙂

  19. Happy Anniversary!
I don't have any advise really, just keep on keeping on? lol
My anniversary is in Feb, so sometime I'd love to celebrate it by going on a tropical vacation somewhere!

  20. I love the Fat Scotties Double Wedding Ring. Of course my favorite color is purple so that makes this kind of obvious. Also, I have officially been married 3 months now. Great adventures are about to happen.

  21. Here's my story (in a few words): when I was a little girl I planned that I'll get married when I'm 28. But when I was after 20, I didn't believe that I'll ever get married, so I was having a lot of fun instead. And… I got married when I was 28! (love caught me right in the moment when I was 100% sure that I'll single for the rest of my life).
My example is excellent example that people should not wait for love – the love will come when they don't expected it:)
PS. I know that this statement is obvious for most of the people, who are already in love, but not all single people believe in this…

  22. we just celebrate 6 years. As a wedding gift to me, my husband had a painting commissioned by an artist we both like. Now, we take turns every year buying a piece of artwork as a gift to ourselves for our anniversary. What a collection we'll have!
