It’s almost like being in Love!

*the giveaway is now closed*

Today just happens to be my 9th wedding anniversary.  In some ways, time has flown by and in other ways, I think it could be longer. 😉  We’ve been through a lot together and life can be crazy…but crazy is better than boring!

In the spirit of celebrating, I wanted to both finish up one giveaway and start another.

First off, is the winner of the Flurry layer cake from The Fat Quarter Shop.  I think it would have been cute if the lucky winner was number 9, but nope…it was # 50!

Who is Shelly!

(Remember we were celebrating Christmas then!)

It's almost like being in Love

Congrats to you Shelly!  I hope you enjoy that Christmas fabric.  Oh and I adore your email address.  I’m sort of jealous that it is not mine!  lol

But wait everyone, there is more!  I told you that we had a new sponsor coming and here she is!  It’s Brenda from Pink Castle Fabrics!

(ack! My computer is being weird and won’t let me put her pink castle logo in this thread…but you can see it in my sidebar.  You can’t miss it.  It’s the only Pink Castle over there. 😉  )

I just ordered the most luscious fabrics from Brenda!  Most of them were from the Newest Joel Dewberry line (quite possibly my favorite designer!) Heirloom.  Tell me that these are not sooo delicious!!

It's almost like being in Love

This man is killing me because that is not even all of the colorways in this collection!  Stop the madness!!  So many fabrics, so little time.

I also got some irresistible new fabrics from a line called Dazzle.  These are the basketweave prints.  Brenda has too many yummy fabrics!

It's almost like being in Love

So, Brenda has graciously agreed to do a giveaway of a Jelly Roll of…. well, you all voted….and the results were pretty interesting.  But hands down the clear winner was Little Apples!  So we will be doing a giveaway of Little Apples Jellyroll!  (but if you don’t prefer that line we might be able to twist Brenda’s arm into giving you the one that you voted for!)

It's almost like being in Love

So, given that it is my 9th wedding anniversary, this time I’d love to hear from you about something marriage-related.  A piece of advice that you live by… Your favorite way to celebrate an anniversary (Lynne I already know what you are going to say!)…  The song you danced to at your wedding…. (the title of the post is ours!).  Really anything about marriage!  Everyone has something to say on this subject, so this is obviously not only limited to married people.  lol.  We’re all full of opinions!

To enter the giveaway:
1.  Leave a marriage/anniversary/wedding related comment
2.  Run over to Brenda’s shop and leave a comment back here telling me your favorite item she has or what you would like to see her carry.

Enjoy!!

  1. Happy Anniversary Angela! I've been married 25 years this year and my advice is to marry your best friend.

The pictures of the Joel Dewberry fabric in this post make me really want to have some to make a handbag. I'm thinking the opal in jade and the ribbon lattice in amber!

  2. Well done, I've been married for 14 yrs and it's fantastic, don't stop talking is my advice (although sometimes he does talk me to sleep!).

  3. Favourite item in the shop – all of them? Ok right now I'll go for 1/2 yard bundle of Bella Solids because I have so many prints and need solids to go with them!
    thanks for the giveaway

  4. Happy anniversary! 2002 was a great year to get married! Speaking from experience 🙂 I am so in love with Aneela's little apples. Thanks for the giveaway! Danielle

  5. Congrats on your anniversary!! I'm a happy customer of Pink Chalk and love so many fabrics. I hadn't noticed Dazzle basket weave…I'm going shopping!

  6. Let's see…we just celebrated 39 years in June…so the BIG 4-0 is coming up next! My how the time literally flies by when you're raising kids, and now have four grands to "try to spoil" as well! Stay close to your Heavenly Father and you'll make it through the many ups and downs of married life!!!

  7. Such yummy fabrics….and to choose one…I went with Ornatae Floral in Garnet Heirloom by Joel Dewberry. I'm always drawn to large dramatic florals! Thanks for the great giveaway!!!

  8. We just celebrated our 26th anniversary last year. My key to marriage happiness at this stage is learn how to play golf. After a round of golf, hubby doesn't mind if I head to the sewing room for a few hours!

  9. Only about a third of the guest showed up to my husband's and my wedding– we got married in a huge snowstorm. Totally out of the ordinary for our area that time of year. It made for great pictures though, and the guests who did make it all got to know each other. akmajor (at) gmail (dot) com

  10. We celebrated our 31st anniversary in May. My favorite way to celebrate is to honor the day doing what we most enjoy–perhaps bicycling with lunch at a favorite place, kayaking or beach walking.

  11. I have been married 17 1/2 years. It's kind of hard to believe that is the case. I don't feel that old. Thanks for a chance to win. jessierey at msn dot com

  12. I WANT the Ruby jelly roll. I am so excited for this line. My favorite pre-cut is a FQ pack, so if she had that, that's what I would be most likely to buy from her shop.

  14. We tell newly-weds to not go to bed angry and we follow that. After 12 years of marriage there have been only a few major misunderstanding.

Congratulations on the 9 years and cheers to 9 more.

  15. Happy Anniversary! Both humor and forgiveness have kept my 30 year marriage in September happy and content : ) We look forward to 30 more years….

  16. Happy Anniversary! At our wedding, we had a reading of a passage from Khalil Gibran's book, the Prophet, "On Marriage." It cautions us to be together, but to not lose our individuality in our union:

Then Almitra spoke again and said, “And what of Marriage, master?”
    And he answered saying:
You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore.
You shall be together when white wings of death scatter your days.
Aye, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.
Love one another but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.
Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together, yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.

  17. When the going gets rough, my husband and I look at each other and say, "Well, we're going to be together for a very long time, so we might as well be nice to each other." Anyways, happy anniversary and thanks for the giveaway.

  18. My husband and I just celebrated 10 years and it has really gone by fast! For our anniversary, we took a trip to England & France (without kids). I think that it is important to take the time for your marriage without children. I don't want to have the kids go off to college and not know who my husband is because I didn't take the time to nurture our marriage. And, I love the boa constrictor comment above 🙂

  19. It's funny in a way, but I can remember the exact date of my divorce but have to stop and search my memory for the date of my marriage:) Divorce= 05/18/1992:)

    Happy anniversary to you!

  20. Hi

Well not married but i would like to think that honesty and communication are good and any relationship!

I love the Anne Marie Horner Floss and thread boxes.

    natasha

  21. My husband thought it would be funny to have the DJ start playing "Baby got Back" for our first dance, but it was really "It's your love" by Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.

  22. Hmmm, marriage advise is tricky stuff. The main thing for us was going into the marriage with the firm belief that this was it. Divorce was the last possible option other than death. And remembering that it is work…sometimes it's fun, and sometimes it sucks, but it's always important.

  23. Happy Anniversary. Wedding comment wow, lets see there were over 150,000 people at my wedding. I was given away by a man I had only known for afew days and my veil was made from an old piece of curtin and some sodering wire. But all in all it was the best wedding a girl could want.
