Mini QT swap complete!

This was the first time that I participated in the Mini QT swap. It’s sort of like the Doll quilt swap but on a much smaller scale and you know who your partner is. You have them and they have you. They do these every two months so it moves pretty quickly! Each swap has a different theme that you and your partner can choose to interpret in whatever way you want. The theme when I signed up was books. I received my partner, hectic household/Jess, and we eventually got in contact about what books we would be interested in seeing a mini quilt based around. She gave me a list that I chose “Harold and the Purple Crayon” from. Remember that quilt?

Remember…these are mini! So that quilt is about 13″ high and 9″ wide. Each little scene was about 4″ square or so.

The book that I chose for Jess to make a quilt from was Alice in Wonderland. So are so many crazy ridiculously wonderful characters in that book! And I’m particularly fond of Alice (side note: I keep meaning to dress up as Alice for either Halloween or Mardi Gras, but I never find the time to make a costume!).

Jess sent me this wild and crazy quilt that expresses the eccentricity of so many of the characters.

She took the white rabbit and “ran” with him! She took an illustration from the book and created this intricate fellow!

There were other little nods to scenes throughout the quilt as well..

she used teapot fabric that I’m assuming refers to the mad hatter’s tea party.

I love the little key pendant that she put on there I think to refer back to the door that Alice is trying to unlock in the beginning.

And her quilting was as wild as the journey that Alice goes through!

Along with the quilt she sent some fall themed goodies:

Here’s a couple of halloween sponges that maybe Caitlyn can use at bath time (although I’m a little afraid that she would chew them apart…she puts everything in her mouth still!)

There was a little assortment of fall decorations in festive halloween fabric:

And also some fall themed recipe cards (now I need to find some fall recipes to write on them):

All in all, here’s the whole package!

Jess, thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into this. If you look at the pictures on flickr you will see that I have a number of jealous friends over this. LOL.
