Sewing Room Swap – Received!

Goodness! I just got back from Salt Lake City, Utah for the ever eventful Sewing Summit.  And I will have lots to share about that soon.  I’m still trying to process it all. lol

But right before I headed out the door to board my plane, I got a lovely package in the mail all the way from Germany.  The lovely Aylin/Nilya2011 created two beautiful items for me and my sewing room, a closed side serger cover and a needle book.

First that delightful serger cover. I had requested a cover for my serger in particular. There are a lot of threads with sergers and places to gather dust, so I’ve been wanted a proper cover for a long time.  And Aylin was sweet enough to make one for me. She made it closed on all sides (which I know from experience is a tougher way to go) and it fits beautifully! She used a block from Ayumi’s patchwork please book for the large flower motif.

The cover has two sides to it! She also used a stem motif for the other side and it’s oh so dear. I love that I will be able to switch it around depending on my tastes at the moment. Practical and beautiful – a great combo in any gift! This side is currently my favorite but that could change at any moment because I’m flighty like that. 😉

And then there was the oh so adorable Needle book she made.  It was perfect timing because I was able to take it right on the plane with me and get a little stitching done (on a name tag I never used but ah well…it kept my hands busy on the plane). She hand stitched all the tiny 1″ hexies together for the cover and used a twill tape measure for the wrapping. LOVE!

Inside there are little pockets for thread, marking pens, and of course felt pages for needles.  She even used a bit of plastic (?) for a see through cover on one pocket.  I love details like that!

I know you’ll agree that I totally lucked out with my swap partner, and she created the most darling pieces for me.  I love how well made they are and how she really listened to what I wanted.  And yet, she put herself into the projects. That is a completed swap for me now with my partner having happily received her items I made, and I have most happily received MY brand new items for my sewing room.  Operation cute sewing room continues!

  1. Ohh aren't you lucky! They are gorgeous! I have that serger and you are so right about the dust. Now I have something else to add to my project list as she has inspired me. What a thoughtful partner!
