So many quilt bees….

So I think that I’m now going to be in 5 different bees! That’s a record…but so far nothing has overlapped. Of course two of them haven’t started yet, so that could be why. I’m in Bee Modern, Bee Liberated, Pretty in Pink, Busy Bees, and we’re starting Ravishing in Red. Every group is different and very fun. It’s so fun to work with other people’s fabric and find out what they like in a block. Bee Modern has already had my month and I got beautiful blocks for my daughter’s bumper and baby quilt. I can’t wait to see what I get from the next four.

I made the first set of blocks for Bee Liberated, a group based off of Gwen Marston’s style and design. She wanted Fractured Nine patch blocks. I hadn’t made these before but they were a snap…especially since she had already cut up the blocks. Ironically we are making the exact same blocks for the Pretty in Pink bee next month…at least I know how to make it already!

I even went through the trouble of swirling the seams on these blocks because I had the time and inclination to do it right.

I’m going to be doing a small tutorial on how to do this for those of you who haven’t seen this technique…I just need to get my brain in order and finish a couple of other blocks first. But I should have it done soon!

One of the things that I’ve been working on as well is a Paint Box Quilt for Oh Fransson’s quilt along. I’m a little late in getting started and I’m doing it my own way of course. But I’m enjoying it still. There are some fun examples of other quilts made by other talented people…you should all check them out here

I’m doing a pastel version but with one constant fabric. I’ve got all the fabric cut up and am working away on the blocks….there are 80 in all, so it takes a bit of time. But the colors are all so pretty!

Somehow I managed to cut enough fabric of my main print for two quilts, so I think that I’m going to be making two of this one! Crazy!
