I recently had the joy of creating one of my quilt patterns for Tula Pink for quilt market (fall 2024). I ended up doing a custom rainbow layout of my Veiled Suggestion quilt pattern using Tula Pink’s Full Moon Forest II collection along with her 2025 True Colors and Solids Collections. I didn’t quite use every solid, but I definitely used every print from the other two collections. It was A LOT of different fabrics to throw into one quilt.
For a custom layout, I know that it can be difficult to replicate that quilt for my customers and quilt shops. So I wanted to give you a downloadable visual layout of my final product. When I made the quilt, I had a F8th bundle of the solids, a FQ Bundle of the True Colors and 1 yard cuts of the main collection Full Moon Forest II. I by no means used all of that fabric, but some will need more than others and you need to accommodate for Fussy Cutting. That is what truly makes this quilt special in the end. The owl fabric has the largest motif to look out for and I used it in large sections. The largest triangles in the quilt are over 18″ so you can’t quite get away with a 1/2 yard for those pieces. My guess is that you can for the rest of them, but I didn’t quite do all of those calculations. I’m sort of guessing by what I have left. When in doubt buy extra fabric!!
My other note to this visual guide is that Tula’s True Color fabric “On the Grid” reads especially tiny in the mockup and can easily be confused with solids. So look for the little cross hatch pattern closely. But you can truly use any fabric where you want, so there is not really a wrong way to go. Just enjoy the process of playing with placement of the fabrics. My Veiled Suggestion Pattern comes with a handy coloring page to let you decide how you want to lay out colors and fabrics before you start cutting. You can see that I did that myself when creating this version of the quilt originally because I did not have digital files but rather dove straight into the fabric itself.
So with all of that said, please enjoy the download below and get to making your own version of the quilt. You can use my layout as a guide to creating your own unique version with whatever fabrics you happen to have, or use precisely the fabrics shown for as long as they are available. The beauty of Tula Pink’s lines is that she has 50 collections so there is a lot of fabric out there in these colors. So feel free to mix and match.
