So I’ve done this thing…write a book. It’s the life long dream come true via hard work and hours and hours of sewing. And I know that I’ve shared a bit about the book here. You probably know that it is about curved piecing and maybe have seen a sneak peak here or there. But I realized that I have not officially shown you all the projects IN the book. I’ve been waiting so long to share them with you all that I forgot that at some point I would actually be able to show you! lol
So today I’m kicking off a week long showing of all of the projects from my book, A Quilter’s Mixology. I’ll be sharing about 3 projects a day from the book. And each day there will be an opportunity to win a copy of the book and other fun prizes along the way…just to celebrate! I hope you’ll join me each day to see the quilts and hopefully be inspired to start sewing some curves.
I love all of my quilts. Truly I do. So it’s hard to know where to start. But since you’ve seen the book cover, I will go ahead and start there, with Orange Twist.
My first quilt I designed and made for the book, this uses my favorite color scheme of orange and aqua. Quilted by the amazing Krista Withers, I love the look of fans she created. The name for this quilt was inspired by churn of soft serve ice cream twisting out of a machine at an ice cream parlor. Also of note, this quilt uses the largest curved pieces in the book by far!
Secondly, I’d like to share a peak at a more traditional arrangement of 1/4 circle blocks, Arabian Nights.
This quilt is my personal homage to Anna Maria Horner and her gorgeous fabrics. Each print is a different design of hers spanning across multiple years and lines. I used a Sizzix die cutter to help make quick work of cutting the charms I used. As a block based quilt, this can be made as small or as large as you would like. But I will warn you that this is some heavy work…each block is a curved block in this quilt. But you can’t beat how timeless it is.
And Finally for today, I would like to share with you a strip pieced quilt with the addition of curves…a delightfully whimsical quilt, Paint Drips.
Originally inspired by my husband, a painter and contractor, I love the ease of the curves here as they gently undulate from drip to drip. It is a large quilt to make the curves manageable but comes together quickly with strip piecing and little seam matching. This too was quilted by Krista for me and she did an amazing job with the details of drips throughout the quilt.
So there you have it! The first three of sixteen projects to share with you. I hope you are excited by what you have seen and are ready to see more all throughout this week. I’m sooo happy to finally be sharing some more details with you all.

Congrats! I have made a top with the arrangement of Arabian Nights and love that look.
These quilts are super! Can't wait to try them 🙂
My dad was a house painter!!!! In the painting lingo a "drip" or other "mistake" is called a holiday .
I learned that as a young girl and it sounded fun/interesting to me so when I either win or buy your book paint drps that will be the first project I make and I'll name mine with the word holiday in some way
Amazing looking projects. I feel like they are beyond my skill level, but you never know until you try, and you can't get better without practice.
cant say how much i adore paint drips. how original!
