Accuquilt Go! Big (and a giveaway made by me!)

*the giveaway is now closed*

I’m so excited to be today’s stop on the Blog Hop for Accuquilt’s newest die cutting machine, the Go! Big.

I was honored to be asked to give this machine a try.

      • The GO! Big is AccuQuilt’s fastest cutter giving you the ability to cut two 6” wide dies side by side at the same time
      • It is safe; easy to use. It maximizes efficiency and alleviates hand and arm strain
      • All GO! Dies can be used in the GO! Big, plus there are 5 NEW GO! Big dies that are used exclusively with the GO! Big. The larger die boards allow you to cut a 12 ½” finished block with just one die.

Feel free to laugh at me, but I even filmed a little homemade video with the help of my brother (and a little less help from my daughter) on how this works!  I’m in love!!

With the Churn Dash die and cutting just the HSTs from it, I was able to get going on a fun wall hanging.

Andover Fabrics provided us with fabrics for the blog hop from their Downton Abbey collection.  But I was a bit stumped by what I wanted to do.  And then I got a little package in the mail from Art Gallery Fabrics and their Maker collection.  The two together made perfect sense to me.  All of the low volume fabrics from Maker helped balance those darker saturated colors from Downton Abbey.

And so…Manners and Manors was created.\

I paired the fabrics together in high contrast combinations and laid them out in a random pattern.  Then I quilted the whole piece with three different colors and weights of thread for texture. And I LOVE that!

But HSTs alone were not enough for me and in the end, I felt it needed a bit of something extra.  So I raw edge appliqued the Dowton Abbey Manor onto the piece.  Those towers are only about a sewing machine needle wide…so it was some detailed work!

And then reaching into my stash, I finished it up with the perfect backing and binding to tie everything together.

And guess what?!  I’m giving it away!

Yes.  One of you will be the lucky winner to own or gift this wall hanging to the Downton Abbey fan in your life.  I just feel like it belongs with someone who LOVES the show.  Make someone’s day or your own by entering to win!

Oh! and I’m also giving away the rest of the Downton Abbey fabric I have which includes ones you see in the quilt and some other colors like a gorgeous Blue.

<b>To enter, simply leave a comment below.  I’d love to hear what you think about the new die cutter.  But if not, then let me know what you love about Downton Abbey.  I made it through the first season myself but never got past the 1st episode of the second season.  So share!!  About either one or both! *the giveaway is now closed*

      Congratulations to the winner:
      #23 Alesha Klein

I love the colors in the quilt. My husband watches the show and this would make the perfect surprise gift for his Birthday. Thank you for the chance to win such a generous giveaway. I love my Accuquilt Go also

  1. I have the smaller accuquilt and it's great for shapes like hexagons that take ages to cut! We started Downton late, when the baby was born …. So we had to then go backwards to find out what had happened in the past!

  2. Wow, what amazing decisions you made on this project. The final project is so cool. I am now contemplating that Go cutter. And while I am behind on the episodes, I have a friend who is gaga over the show. Should I win your very cool quilt, it will reside at her house.

  4. I like the "hands free" feature of the new Go! No more cranking to move the fabric and tray through the machine. I watch Downton Abbey on the internet.

  5. Super work on the project, love the appliqué! The cutting machine looks like it cuts project time in half. I got hooked on Downton, binged watched until I was caught up and now I watch it weekly. Thanks for the chance to win.

  6. I hardly ever watch tv, not even sure if we have downtown aired in Hungary, but I just love the quilt (you gave me some ideas 🙂 ). thanks for the chance.

  7. The die cutter – easy and fast with great capability. Downton Abbey – I don't watch, but my daughter does and she works for a PBS station and this would be a perfect addition to her office.

  8. I don't have the BIG but I have the Studio & I love that! I like to slide the top cover off the fabrics so that the static electricity doesn't pick the pieces up from the stack.

  9. Wow I love your little wall hanging! I so love how you added the Mansion. The new die cutter looks wonderful. I would love to have the electric one. My hands are really getting old and not working like they did when I was younger. This would be the perfect addition to my sewing world. Thanks for sharing!

  10. I'm not sure why I love Downton Abby, but I do. I hope Anna isn't in too much trouble and someone finds a real killer. Can't believe that next week is the season ender. 🙁 Thanks for the chance to win these gorgeous fabrics. I love the skyline on your quilt.

I am a huge Accuquilt fan, but just haven't justified getting the GO Big yet. I am given many, many tiny scraps. Right now my GO! Baby and smaller dies do the trick for tons of sewing fun.

  11. Wow! I would love to own one of those. Nice to be able to cut so precisely! And Downtown…how could you stand the suspense of not keeping up? You should try and catch up….you've missed the best parts! 🙂

  12. The show is a must-see for us around here. You did a great job combining those fabric lines, I have been thinking of getting some of the shirtings from the downstairs line and you are making me think I should consider the darker prints as well 🙂

  13. Love your quilt. The extra applique of Downton Abbey really makes it. I own the Accuquilt Go, but that electric double-sized Big Go is something else. Thanks for the chance to win your giveaway.

  14. The manor is wonderful and a clever idea to give the quilt identity. First time to your blog and I enjoyed it very much. Someday I need to get myself an Accuquilt what a time saver and accuracy you can't match with a rotary cutter.
    Thanks,
    Jules

  15. I have an Accuquilt GO! cutter that I use all the time, and just love it. The Big looks great and I'm glad the existing dies work with it. I'm a big Downton Abbey fan and recently power watched several episodes of Season 5 while hand stitching the binding on my latest quilt. I love the castle on your quilt and that you used different colors and weights of thread to quilt it. Thank you for the opportunity to win the quilt and the fabric!

  16. Love your quilt. I wish I had the money for the new Accuquilt but another year maybe. I am crazy about Downton Abbey. My husband gave the set for Christmas and I have marathon watched it twice. It is an obsession. I really like the suit Rose was married in, total class.

  17. I think the GO cutters sound wonderful, but so far haven't decided to spend the money on one. Love, love, love your quilt! My aunt is a huge Downton fan and it would be a thrill to win and gift the quilt to her. She doesn't have children of her own, but she has lots of nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews and she spoils all of us! I like to do special things for her when I can.

  18. looks fabulous Angela. i love the varigated quilt threads! i also only made it to the complete season 1…but i just dont watch enough TV to make it thru more…someday! thanks goodness for Netflix! i think i need more HST in my life!

  19. I love Downton, mostly for the costumes. As for the die cutter I have never felt the need for one as I quite enjoying cutting by hand. Yes I know – weird. Jenny larking at gmail dot com

  20. This acuquilt big looks great! I have the regular go and love it but this looks amazing! I love the Downton Abbey fabric collection and the the series! Thank you for the giveaway.

  21. I think your little quilt is adorable. I was actually at Accuquilt one day and they gave a demo on this new Go Big. so fun to do projects on and fun for guilds to work together.
