Today I’m happy to share that I have a block in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks – Volume 5!
You’ve got to look for me in there…I’m all the way near the end. lol But I’m in there! #92 or 94 or something.
I broke into my Mendocino stash to create this pretty mermaid block paired with some Farmdale Blossoms and a Riley Blake dot. Oh I just love all of these fabrics together!! I really tried to get the mermaids to have some movement and feel like they were swimming in the strips.
The fabrics are the showcase in the block I put in the magazine, but I simplified the look by evening out the borders and creating each block in a just two tones.
The technique to make the blocks is just the same as the one show in Quiltmaker…but even easier with only the one print to worry about. And I LOVE the secondary pattern that shows up when you pair multiple blocks together. I have about 6 or so of these blocks made and I need to make more! This is a quilt that needs to happen in my world.
Patterns that read as solid like or monochromatic are perfect this kind of layout. Just solids would be amazing too. You get a great texture from the seams but it is still simple and very usable. Mitered and on pointe?! Perfect! Oh and this geometric pattern is very male friendly. I know we are all always on the lookout for a pattern the men in our lives would like….errr…tolerate….err…love!
my favourite fabric line is Terrain, by Kate Spain. so pretty!
love your block… so many possibilities!
Thanks for the chance to win. I really am a batik girl, so some of the new Artisan batiks are really catching my eye.
I don't really have a current favorite line of fabric as I am in a dotty mood and have been some time. I've been collecting dots of all kinds! LOL. 🙂
Thank you for showcasing the block. I really like the different colorways.
I think I am going to love the new line by V and Co. for Moda. It is Simply Color. From what I've seen I think it is going to be beautiful.

Right now I love Summersville. But that will last a week and I will move on to something else. Love our block!
I'm in love with "The Lorax" fabric right now, I've always been a fan of his and now I can make quilts with him. Thanks.
Your block is a beauty! My favorite fabric right now is Summersville.
Love your block – both the original and the "solids" version!! Congratulations on being included! I am very excited for Sweetwater's new line, Mama Said Sew< to begin appearing in stores – it looks like a lot of fun!
Congrats! I love the secondary pattern, it really looks great. Hmmm, fabric I am loving… Well, I saw a peek of Bonnie and Camile's Marmalade a few days ago and I can't stop thinking about it!
My favorite line right now is Water by Kaffe Fassett. Congratulations on being in the magazine. I love your block and the different designs it creates as you add blocks to it. A really fun quilt and it could be made for anyone depending on the fabric used.
Angela, that is one gorgeous block! I especially love it in the Mendocino prints, but the others are just as lovely (especially the aqua one!). As to my favorite fabric right now, I'm loving Aneela Hoey's A Walk In the Woods and even though I know it's not new I'd love to someday get my hands on some Ruby. 🙂
A real fun block and I love how it forms a secondary pattern with more blocks . I don't really have a favorite line at the moment . I love them all;-)
I honestly do not have a favorite fabric or fabric line….simply boils down to, I Love All Fabrics! I've had a passion for fabrics ever since I was a toddler…started around 18 months and hasn't stopped for over 50 years! 🙂
Currently I am working with some 'left-over' actually horded fabrics from the 30's.

I love that block! My favorite fabric today is Matsuri. I will soon be starting one of Eleanor Burns' Quick Trip crib quilts a new baby who has a mid-July eta.
Your block looks like a lot of fun. I love the way they look all together! I love Sweetwater's new line Lucy's Crab Shack, and also their line coming out this fall, Sew Mama Sew.
Fabrics – I'm really into the teal and brown colors right now. Too bad I won't buy any. Too many other projects to finish up 😉
Love your block! My fave is Ruby!
I've been seeing some sneak previews of new fabric lines, and since I am partial to Christmas, there are some great new collections on the horizon, and some available now. Never too early to start Christmas projects! Love your block design – it goes together so perfectly!
Love the block!!
I like batiks right now. thank you for the chance to win.

Love the block and the possibilities it has. I use fabrics I like, so it involves a lot of lines. I am using a lot of things from my stash. That is definately a lot of different fabrics!
Love your block! Saw your photo at Flickr, too. My current fabric is My Folklore from Japan. Thanks for the giveaway!
I like the block you designed for Quiltmaker 100 Quilt Blocks. I've been collecting paisley fabrics for the past couple of years.
A very nice block. I am into batiks right now, so many things you can do with them.
My favorite line of fabric right now is the one with red riding hood, mushrooms, a fox — it's haunting me. Need to make a wooded quilt with a small red riding hood and a big fox. (I know the fairy tale has a big bad wolf, but the fabric is definitely foxy!) I think it is Moda's Walk in the Woods.
Love your block! I love ALL fabrics…lol Thanks "sew much" for a chance to win!!
A very cool block, and I like the look with the different colored blocks. I am looking forward to the release of Women of Courage by Nancy Gere. Thanks for a chance.
Yes it is nice to have a men friendly block to make a quilt, love the secondary pattern and so yes I want to make this for my son.
Thanks for the giveaway. Batiks are one of my new favorite fabrics.
Love this, it's right up my alley 🙂 My favorite fabric line right now is Heirloom in Citrine by JD, I know, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
What a nice clean line block. i can easily see me doing it in the 30's collection of fats I just purchased! Thanks so much for sharing.
I LOVE your block!! My all time fav fabric line has been anything by French General. Love the reds 🙂
Your block is FANTASTIC! Thanks for the chance to win the giveaway! The blog tour is great, I am really enjoying it!

Civil War fabric is always a fav! thanks..
I love reproduction fabrics and primitives. I am waiting for Lisa Bonjean's new line called Old Glory Gatherings to come out this fall. So cute.
At the moment, I'm really into Hoffman 1895 fabric. These would be GREAT to use in your block! Congrats! Thanks for the chance to win.
I don't follow fabric lines. I love all fabric.
Very neat block!! Congratulations. I love Jo Morton fabrics and am trying to build up my stash of those and other reproduction fabrics.
Wonderful block!!! I love all the fabric lines by French General. Petite Odile is their new line. I'd love to purchase some yardage. Have a wonderful day!
I really like Moda…I also love the new bright fabrics that are out. I am especially grateful for your block since I have 3 sons and 5 grandsons that all want quilts! I love the way it comes together. thanks!

Of course you need to buy more fabric! What are you saying?
Hmm, my fave of the moment is probably Summersville. Or maybe Good Fortune. Or possibly the reissues of Pez or FMF. Or perhaps….
I am trying to focus on more solids in my stash, so I am buying lots of Kona right now.
You certainly showed a variety of was to make the design. Good job.
Love your block-can't believe how different it can look in the one where you used the mendocino fabric.
Right now I am loving A Stitch in Color! I just used it in a quilt and I love the way the colors & prints play off each other
I need to get my solid stash up so kona but I like the look of Abigail and think perhaps it's not really too early to start buying some Christmas fabric :O)
Great graphic block!
I say I am not going to buy anymore fabric, but, until I walk into a shop. I do not have the will power……And yes, I come out with more to add to my stash…..I love all of them. It is hard to part with them too. But I know that my children will cherish them. They always bring their quilts with them when they come to visit. They also put in their orders for Christmas so I will have plenty of time to make them another. LOL! Thank you for sharing and Congrats to you on your published block. It is beautiful…Judith, Texas
I'm partial to Tonga Batiks by Timeless Treasures
I love anything by Valorie Wells.
