Hey all,
You know that I’ve been interested more and more in embroidery right? Well, I’ve been making a little progress. I’ve tried to take some of your advice and then plow ahead. I found a set of quirky but hopefully not too cutesy reindeer for some kind of Christmas something and I’m working my way along…I’m on my third reindeer. I’ll admit that I’m pretty much only using a backstitch at this point because that’s all I’ve figured out. (I haven’t looked at the online tutorials yet). But I do think I pulled off a couple of french knots, and really, no one is here to tell me differently. 😉 My filling stitches need definite work, but they’re okay…until I look at a “real” embroiderer’s work. lol
ETA: A number of you seem interested in where I got the patterns. I bought this set at my local Joann’s but I don’t see it on their site. This is the package and I noticed that an Etsy shop is selling one…although I’m sure you can find them in all kinds of places. 😉 oh and I’m using a dmc perle cotton size 8 in three colors.
Check it out!
Those little deer are so darling. How about a tree skirt or stalkings? Dare I suggest reindeer curtains (ha!)
Well there's def too much work on them to use them on something that would get too dirty! How about a couple of skinny wall hangings with a big santa and sleigh in the middle?? If you did three separate ones and hung them side by side it would be freaking adorable. Or make another long skinny, horizontal one of Santa in his sleigh and hand they around and over a door frame! So maybe as you leave your front door or some other prominant place.
Long time follower!!
I am a follower, the blog looks great!
I think those reindeer are darling. Maybe we could frame each one in brightly painted frames and put them on a mantle or shelf. I think that would be super cute.
i follow you in google reader.

i would collect the embroidery pieces and make a holiday quilt.

I am still a follower and I love it! I would think about incorporating them into a tree skirt..
I just LOVE Dancer! 🙂 If I were doing those, I'd find a way to hang them somewhere they were really noticeable and maybe line them up with a big sleigh.
I've been following you in my Google Reader, but now I'm in here too.
Thx for much for this great giveaway. I use Cosmo all the time for my stitching.
I'm a follower of your blog!
It looks like we're supposed to do this separate, so I'm a follower.
Would it be too ambitious to turn them into an advent calendar type thing? Too many reindeer, you say? Then, I'd throw them together with some scrappy Christmas fabric and turn it into a wall hanging or something! They are too cute to hide.
And, I think table runner, maybe? P.S. I NEED that AMH fabric. Desperately.
Thanks for the giveaway — I am a follower and I'd love to win!
I think you should make a pillow because they are so darn useful and you can always make space for the seasonally. Easy! And, you could always hang your empty pillow on the wall, but you probably can't stuff your wall hanging and put it on the couch!
I'm a follower. They'd be seriously cute as pillows but I could also see them as wall decorations, maybe framed in different photo frames? 🙂
The reindeer are too cute. I would make a little wall hanging for the holidays. I am a follower 🙂

You could make a wall hanging with all those adorable embroidery pieces!
Mmm, maybe a garland type of thing? That would be super cute to hang in front of a mantle.

Those reindeers rock and they need to be rocking around the Christmas table as a table runner only don't let anyone spill anything on them 🙂
I'm drooling over this giveaway because everyone says to try Cosmos thread and AMH fabric to stitch on? It doesn't get much better.
I would make a string of banners for your fireplace or elsewhere in the house. It would be adorable. Your stitches look great.

I might incorporate your embroidery into some easy blocks and make a throw-size quilt. They look good!
I think that they would make adorable tea towels, you know the kind NO ONE are allowed to use ….but I do spend most of my time in the kitchen when I am not sewing so that is where I would see them most. They are great1
Long time follower in Reader, but also added your follow button!
Would be so cute in a runner or what about stockings.
Follower – didn't lose me!
I'd make a tree skirt out of those reindeer.
What a fun giveaway, and I love your deer. I think I'd make pillows with those cuties, or possibly use them as a center piece for a table runner. I'm a long time follower.
I am definitely into pillows right now so that's my vote! (& I'm a follower!)
I follow your blog. Like the idea of a wall hanging for the holidays too. The reindeer you've completed are very pretty and have a fun vibe. Thanks for the giveaway. I also like Pink Castle Fabrics on FB.

I just started embroidery and I'm loving it! I think you should make a tree skirt or a couple large stockings. A bigger stocking means more stocking stuffers!
I am a follower! I think they'd look cute as a banner/bunting, that way you can move it around every year 🙂
Where did you get the reindeer pattern? I would love to embroider those.
With all my extra time.
Now that I have also taken up knitting.
I follow
And I vote for napkins – those embroideries really remind me of the Pottery Barn reindeer dishes they have out seasonally.

I think they would look great as pillows, stockings or a tree skirt would be nice too.
You can send the reindeers to me! or make a wall quilt.
I think they would be really cute as door handle pillows. I've got some that are stitched on one side and velvety material on the back with ribbon for a handle. I guess they'd be considered ornaments. They'll be sweet regardless of what you choose to do!

You could use each one in a patchwork stocking or make them into a bunting of some kind…those seem particularly popular right now. Whatever you do it'll be darling with all those fun guys! 🙂

I've been wanting to do a little more embroidery lately, too. I just found Wild Olive http://wildolive.blogspot.com/ Soooo many cute little patterns, and she has a series of embroidery basics posts, too. 🙂
